So I was contacted to tattoo a full color Biomechancial lifeform abstract tattoo piece. He wanted bright colors and thick lines and gave me references from his favorite Guy pieces and asked if I could do it. He saw my work and is confident I can do it so these are the steps in progress as I make the art then I will show progress as I tattoo it. Here is the kicker I have to incorporate his tribal band or go over it. The dark black area is where it used to live.

This is the completed koi fish cap I started back in october 07. So to start off the new year we finally finished it now that he is out of school. We finished off the swilrs and I included a close up of the top of the cap to show some blending.
I used three tones even though they look close in value right now they will all heal into different shades. I used a straight graywash out of the bottle, graywash in a number 12 cap with 5 drops black and then straight black for really dark bars. I like to make the scales more organic with varying sizes and over laps like a real fish and unless the customer wants it I don’t outline them in black but I am fond of the traditional style heads and fins.
